Formula Racing At the Raceway
Productions 2018

This formula is non-contact and cars should be prepared and finished to a professional racing appearance. This standard is required to be maintained throughout the drivers racing season. Cars with tatty, dented and badly batterer panels will not be passed by the Scrutineer. Helmets and neck braces must be presented to the Scruitineers before practice.

VIOLATIONS.

NO DESKIMMING OF ANY CAR ABOVE WAISTHEIGHT.
When referring to the engine, gearbox, differential, mechanics or construction, rules and regulations, the principle will always be the same - UNLESS PERMISSION IS SPECIFICALLY GRANTED TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS OR ANY VARIATION, NOTHING MAY BE DONE TO ALTER OR CHANGE IN ANY WAY THE STANDARD PARTS. UNLESS THESE RULES STATE THAT YOU CAN DO IT, YOU CANNOT.

Violation will result in an immediate suspension of all racing facilities and any refusal will also result in an immediate suspension.

1. DRIVERS
Must be 15+ and must prove their date of birth by producing their birth certificate when applying for a licence.

2. CARS.
The cars eligible for use are NISSAN MICRA K10 or K11 MODELS,STARLET 12 VALVE 1.0L (BOXY OR BUBBLE TYPE)OR ANY OTHER 1000CC PRODUCTION CAR EXCEPT YARIS VVTI.
Cars must be of all steel construction and painted in bright colours.

3. ENGINES
All parts to engines must be original and NO mixed/matching permitted.

The only modifications that can be done are the ones stated below.


Exhaust on cars must remain standard at all time. Charlie McNamara exhaust is allowed.
Exhaust manifold must be standard to car. Down pipe is free and have an effective silencer fitted

4. WEIGHTS
K10 MICRA-520kg.
K11 MICRA-570kg.
STARLET -520kg. Both models
Cars may be picked at random during race meetings to be weighed by a scrutineer.

5. TRANSMISSION Standard engine ECU only from 1.0 Lt .55k/w
Skimming of head is permitted.
Valve seats may be recut No machining beyond the valve seats in the head.
Skimming of engine block surface is NOT permitted.
Flywheels may be lightened.
Camshafts and cam gears must remain standard and NO reprofiling of camshafts permitted.
Car engines and ECU'S WILL BE CHECKED ON A RANDOM BASIS.
Fuel pressure +/- 4lbs of manufacturer.
Injectors must remain standard.
Rev limiter may be disabled.
The gearbox mountings and final drive must remain as standard to the model of vehicle. Gearing is free to the model range. The differential must not be locked in any way. I.E. Limited diffs or welder diffs are not permitted.

6. WHEELS AND TYRES
Any 13" rims (steel or alloy), subject to a maximum width of 6" can be fitted. The only tyres permitted are YOKOHAMA A048 OR A021 AND TOYO 888'S Medium Compound Only. Tyres must not be used without visible tread all-round the circumference. Wheels must NOT pass outside the wheel arch.

7. SUSPENSION
All suspension and pick up points must be as originally manufactured. Springs are free. Although negative camber is permitted it is on the nearside front wheel only. This is to be achieved by slotting bottom of shock only. Adjustable shock absorbers NOT permitted. Offside front may be achieved by slotting suspension bolts only. The original top of the shock MUST REMAIN STANDARD. All back axle parts MUST remain standard. REAR SHOCKS MUST REMAIN STANDARD TO THE MODEL OF CAR.
Original position is allowed. MAX. CAMBERS. RIGHT HAND 4 DEGREES. LEFT HAND 15 DEGREES.

8. BRAKES
To be as original and to work on all wheels. Handbrake is compulsory.

9. BODYWORK
To remain exactly as production. Deskinning of bonnet, boot, doors and quarter panels is permitted. This is optional. BUT NOT ABOVE WAIST HEIGHT. NO armouring is allowed. You may add steel bar between the front chassis legs. (MAXIMUM SIZE 2" X 1" box iron)

10. ROLL CAGES
NO alloy roll cages are allowed. The minimum steel roll cage protection you must have is one front hoop, one rear hoop, cross bar at shoulder height, Must be a hoop behind drivers seat to mount seat support or a seat brace hoop as a seat support, two roof connecting bars, one dash cross bar, two N/S chicken bars and two O/S chicken bars. The roll cage hoop feet MUST be on four welded 23cm square plate min. thickness 3mm or piece of 38mm x 38mm box section 2.5mm minimum thickness connecting front and rear hoop feet welded to sill or floor. All joints must be welded over 90% of the joint unless an approved RACMSA cage is used. Rear cage bars must terminate at least 4" from the rear panel. All bars connecting to the cage must be steel. The minimum thickness of the roll cage tube is 1 1/4" OD 10swg (3mm), 1 1/2" OD 12swg (2.5mm) tube and 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 10swg (3mm) box iron.
Extra bars may be required to improve driver safety.

11. SCREENS
No glass is allowed in the window apertures. ALL glass must be removed, including headlights, side lights and all rear lights. An internal and an external mirror is compulsory. A metal upright 3/4" x 3/4" must be welded or bolted into the centre of the windscreen aperture. Wire mesh over the windscreen is not permitted.
Drivers door net must be fitted.

12. STOP LIGHTS
Brake light must be fitted onto the rear parcel shelf or hung from the roof, in the centre. Lamps must be operated by the standard stop light switch as fitted to that particular model of car. Bulbs to be of 21watt intensity. A strip light may be fitted instead of the above.

13. BATTERIES AND ELECTRICAL.
Batteries must be securely clamped in place and covered with a leak-proof material (e.g. Rubber) to prevent spillage of acid. An electrical cut-off switch must be fitted to the rear nearside corner of the car. ECU's may be randomly supplied by S.O.R.A. and a driver requested to race with the club ECU for any days racing. Failure to comply with the scrutineers decision on this this will result in severe penalties or immediate ban. If a car is fitted with an electrical fuel pump a cut-off switch must be fitted within easy reach of the driver. Alternators must be retained in their original position regardless of whether or not the wiring is connected. Fan belts must be in place. Batteries MUST be covered unless of dry cell construction.

14. SEATS
Competition seats MUST be fitted. The seat MUST be adequately supported at shoulder height.

15. STEERING
The steering rack or box should retain its original position but the height of the steering column can be altered to suit the driver. It is recommended that the upper retaining bracket be strengthened for safety.

16. FUEL TANKS
Standard fuel tanks are permitted with a maximum capacity of 2 gallons per race. All tank filler caps must be secure and leak-proof. Race tank is optional.
CARS WITH PETROL CAPS DRILLED WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RACE.
Racing tanks must be fitted rear of the driver but in front of the rear axle. All tanks MUST be fitted with a non-return valve. The tank must be covered by a firewall.

17. NUMBERS
Numbers must be displayed on both sides of the car in contrasting colours and have a minimum of 12" high by 2" strokes. Numbers Must be black on a white background. Fin plates MUST be fitted 9" high numbers 1 1/2" strokes.

18. ROOF COLOURS
When notified of your grading you must paint at least 90% of the roof in their grading colour. WHITE, RED OR BLUE. If you win a race at a meeting you will start at the back of you grade for the remaining races. Should you win another race at the same meeting you will be automatically upgraded.

19. SIGNWRITING
THE DRIVERS NAME MUST APPEAR PLAINLY ON THE SUN VISOR. Only writing confined to sponsors or mechanics names, all of which must have approval of the promotions at all times.

20. SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Helmets must be to a minimum standard as directed by the British Oval Racing Executive (B.O.R.S.E.) at present these are FIA8860-2004. Snell SA2010, SFI Foundation 31.1A and SFI Foundation 31.2A. The E2205 European standard helmet may be used in fibreglass or tri-composite form only. (NO POLYCARBONATE HELMETS ARE ALLOWED.) It is important that the helmet fits the driver correctly. Shatterproof goggles / visor must be worn although tinted visors are not advisable. Your helmet must display the current ORCI (ORCI 10) sticker.

20. SAFETY BELTS AND EQUIPMENT
Only belts comprising separate shoulder, lap and sub straps will be permitted - i.e. 5 point harness. An extra bar is to be fitted behind the drivers seat approx. 4" below shoulder height of the driver. Your seat belts may be fitted to this bar. A quick release cloth window net must be fitted to the drivers door window aperture. The netting should have holes not larger than 7.5cm or 3" wide. It should come down level with the steering wheel, should be flexible and easily removable separate to the movement of the door.

21. CLOTHING
Drivers must wear brightly coloured racing overalls which must be flame retardant. Fire retardant gloves and balaclavas are mandatory and must be marked appropriately. NECK BRACES ARE COMPULSORY.

IF A CAR IS IN BREACH OF THESE RULES PENALTIES WILL BE APPLIED.
