Latest News From the Raceway
The Final Countdown has begun ...
Well Ladies and Gentlemen things are coming to an end at Tipperary Raceway for another season and the 26th of October sees the raceway with its biggest meeting to date with the 2013 Stock Rod European Championship.

With entries in from Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and of our own Irish lads, of course the favourite for the race is current European Champion and World Champion Chris Gunner Lattka #658. With such a big entry from Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland, the Gunner will have to be straight on the pace. Such names to look out for from Northern Ireland on the night will be Stephen McCready #17, ex world champion Chris Gordon #25, Raymond Harper #57, Stevie MacNeice #65 and current British Champion Gary Butler #551.

Of course our own boys are on top form at the moment and have done very well in big championships of late so home track should be an advantage. William ODonovan #10 drove the race of his life two weeks ago taking a lot of pressure from Alan McCormack #83, Orey Stanley #21 and young Antony McGinty #36 in the Johnny Hall cup final. Other home drivers to keep an eye on, are Colm OSullivan #894, Trevor OBrien #124 and John ODonovan #8.

English drivers that have booked in so far are David Burton #88 and Steve Gooch #136. Here is hoping that more book in before Saturday.

National Hotrods
National Hot rods are out for their own championship this weekend for the European Challenge Cup and the Davy Evans cup. Current world champion and national champion, John Christie #962, is booked in for this with Best of Britain champion Glenn Bell #9 in tow. A couple of other Northern Ireland drivers have booked in also, with more to follow during the week. Jason Kew #174 is the only English entry as of the moment, but we are hoping more will follow after Saturday nights racing in Northampton.

Of our home drivers the man on form at the moment and current Davey Evans Cup holder is Shane Murphy #970. David Casey #261 and Eamon ODonovan #200 are others to watch on the night but as the saying goes, its not over till the chequered flag comes down and we have seen this many times before under the lights In Tipperary Raceway.

2lt Hot-rods
It has been five years since we had this great class in Tipperary and the more we see them, the more interest from Tipperary we get. Fast, wheel-to-wheel racing action at an affordable cost thats what makes 2 Litre Hot Rod racing so popular on the ovals of England and Northern Ireland. These space-framed cars run on control Hoosier tyres, and are confined to the Ford 2L Pinto engine, making them a cost effective way of getting the thrills that hot rod racing brings. Around 15,000GBP can put one of these machines on track, with close racing guaranteed at every meeting. The 2 Litres have been around Oval Raceways for some time, racing across the southern English raceways and in East Anglia, whilst 2009 has also seen the formula spread its wings to the Incarace promotion in the Midlands. The formula has also had a strong base in Northern Ireland for many years, with the best each country has to offer battling it out in the major championships each season.
We have two Tipperary Raceway drivers out with this class this Saturday night, Pat Casey #999 and Denis McGrath #951 both making appearances. Pat is the main sponsor for the 2ltr class this weekend and does race with the boys from the North of Ireland when he gets the chance to do so. Its great to have them back in Tipperary and hopefully we might see more of them in 2014.

Lightning Rods
Lightning Rods have their Tipperary Open Championship on the night. This year hasnt been the best year for Lightning Rods in Tipperary, with low numbers out, but the few drivers we have, have been very quick all year and could give a good battle to the Northern Ireland drivers who make up the rest of the grid for the weekend.
Jordan Rochford #977, Brendan O Connell #904, Ben McKee #937 and Gordy McKee #947 are just a few of the fast boys down from the Tullyroan Oval that are expected to make for exciting racing on the night.

Junior Rods
This class is for 10 to 16 year olds and are the future of Tipperary Raceway. The Nissan Micra is the car to have at the moment. These youths show some speed and car control on the qtr mile oval and have very exciting racing every time they come out on track. This weekend we have some junior visitors in the class and it should make for some great racing for them under the lights.

Tipperary Raceway SORA would like to take this opportunity to thank Tullyroan Oval for cancelling their planned race night on the 26th October, to allow their drivers the chance to come to Tipperary for the day, and possibly the night?

All drivers booking in ends Thursday night 8pm, full list of confirmed entrants will be posted Friday morning.

Gates open Saturday morning at 10am and all drivers must be signed in by 1:30pm.

Admission: Adult 15EUR, Under 16s free.

We wish all our visiting drivers a successful and enjoyable weekend!

Changes to schedule and great news!
The demolition derby planned for the 6th October has been moved to 13th October. This race is for road going cars up to 2.5L. The Tom Hennerby cup for Productions will also be held on that day. Due to the number of races on the day we have have had to remove the Visitors class for the day. On the day also the John Hall Memorial Cup will be held for the Stock rods. This cup will be an open championship for all local and visiting stock rod drivers.
Then NHRPA have sanctioned the European Challenge cup for 26th October to go along with the European Stock Rod Championship. This is building up to be the biggest meeting of the year and should not be missed.

What a great nights racing at Tipperary Raceway. Congratulations to Tomas Kiely on winning the Production Cup. The last few laps were a great race between Tomas and Jeff Riordan. Shane Murphy had a good nights racing winning 3 races. There was a large number of new Premier Rods on show making this a class to watch.
